
Qantas needed to promote their increased capacity to the USA just as the state’s biggest travel expo was about to begin. Problem 1: The Qantas stand at the expo was small, up back and in a corner. Problem 2: No budget for anything but a flyer. Solution? Popcorn. Popcorn machine. Popcorn boxes printed with the USA message. Result? Qantas hijacked the entire expo with the smell of popcorn and turned popcorn carrying expo visitors into walking Qantas billboards. Now that’s sales promotion.
